Our iconic Matilda Cake features two layers of rich chocolate sponge, filled and coated with our famous Matilda sauce, and finished with a clear acetate wrap for its signature look. Originally a café favourite, this 5 – 9 inch cake is now available as a special occasion cake from our bakery, perfect for birthdays and celebrations. With its indulgent chocolate flavour and beautifully smooth finish, it’s a true crowd-pleaser. Freshly prepared to order and available across Bolton, Blackburn, and Manchester, each cake is carefully crafted by our bakers. Due to its delicate finish, gentle handling is required during transport.
All our round cakes are made with 4 generous layers, creating a taller cake and more servings than standard designs.
Approximate portions (dessert slices):
5-inch – serves 8–10
7-inch – serves 14–18
9-inch – serves 22–26
Portion sizes may vary depending on how the cake is cut.
If you’re unsure between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger option.
Cakes should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat.
Buttercream and ganache cakes can be kept at room temperature for up to 24 hours.
For longer storage, refrigerate the cake in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Bring the cake back to room temperature before serving for best flavour and texture.
Shelf life:
Best enjoyed within 48–72 hours of collection.
